This was taken in my organic chemistry class. I learned from a guided inquiry workshop to have students work together and it suited my teaching style as well.

Rather than having students copy lecture notes, I used worksheets that had reaction mechanisms on them. I wanted students to practice in class how I thought they should learn on they own. I considered this was an active learning — practicing — activity. Since the students could help each other, then talking and helping also helped the helper. While this was happening, I walked around the class to answer questions, or I might add comments to help explain why reactions should take place.
